Wine Tour and Tasting Day Trip 2024

Come join the Swiss Society to explore one of the two famous wine regions that New York State has to offer! We are organizing a day trip to the North Fork in Long Island, where we will be given a private tour of the vineyard and be able to taste a variety of locally produced wines. We will be able to witness where the magic happens not only at one vineyard - but two!

For this particular event we organized a private minibus with a designated driver that will pick up all the adventurers who decide on joining us for this exciting trip at Union Square, seamlessly transport us to the second vineyard, and drop us off safely again at Union Square to conclude this eventful day.

This event is suitable for both novices and established wine connaisseurs - be that to learn about the general wine production, or discover the nuances in what sets those Long Island winemakers from other producers apart.

The ticket will include the tours, the tastings, the transport as well as gratuity to the vineyard staff and our driver. If you're a premium member, you will be eligible for a discounted ticket price. If you're not a premium member yet, head over to our Membership section to learn more about the advantages.

If you're not fully convinced to join us for this thrilling day, please reach out to markus@swisssociety.org with any questions or concerns.

The schedule and further details for this event will be communicated via email a couple days before the event will take place.

Escape Room Event

To bridge the gap between Swiss National Day and the Swiss Gala we are hosting a new event where we will be playing an escape room. On Friday September 22, 2023, we will be meeting at MyssTic Rooms for a fun evening with riddles, drinks and good company!

To start off the event, we will be meeting at the venue for a welcome drink. During this time you can already vet your potential crew, in order to maximize your team's well-rounded skills to gather valuable clues, solve the puzzles, and leverage those to eventually escape the room. Our event venue MyssTic Rooms has two amazing scenarios, which we will be discovering: The Montauk Project and the Ghost Light

After the successful completion of the challenge, we will be heading to a nearby bar, where you will have more opportunities to socialize and network with your fellow escape artists and the challengers of the other room.

Please see below schedule and head over to our ticket page to grab your spot!

Please note: Due to organizational changes we had to adjust the starting time and our capacity to only 20 tickets total.

Schedule:

  • 6:15 pm - Arrival at the event location at MyssTic Rooms at 794 Union Street in Brooklyn, first socializing over a welcome drink and forming of the groups

7:00 pm - Starting your journey of escaping the room

8:00 pm - With the (hopefully) successful breakout, the official part of the event will conclude. It is highly encouraged to join the migration to a nearby bar for the socializing part of the evening.

To enjoy the pleasant fall weather and beautiful colors we are planning a hiking trip with our community around Cold Spring in upstate New York.

We will meet at Grand Central Station at 9:30am and take the train together up to Cold Spring. There are a few different routes with various length and difficulty grades in the area so we will decide on the day depending on the group’s interest which route(s) to choose.

To cap off the day, we will meet back in Cold Spring at a local restaurant or beer garden to enjoy a refreshment before heading back to the city. Below is a tentative outline of the excursion with times.

Please RSVP through info@swisssociety.org so we can get a sense who is planning on attending. Everyone is responsible to buy their own train ticket which costs about $20-30.

Further details will be sent out shorter to the date to those who have signed up. In case of bad weather, we will plan to move the trip to a following weekend.

Date:
Saturday, September 17th, 2022, 9:30am

Itinerary:
9.30am - Meet at Grand Central at the golden clock tower in the middle of the main concourse

Between 11.14 and 4.20pm - Hike, visit shops, eat and drink at restaurant
4.20pm - Train back to NYC
5.55pm - Arrival at Grand Central Station

Meeting Point:
We are meeting at 9:30am at Grand Central Station at the golden clock in the main concourse, 89 E 42nd St, New York, NY 10017 (map). We will bring a Swiss flag to be easily recognized.

Train Ticket:
Everyone is responsible to buy their own train ticket which costs $15 one way/$30 return for adults. Please note there are discount options for seniors, family, kids, etc. based on your needs. You can purchase the ticket by downloading the MTA Train Time App (enter the route Grand Central to Cold Spring, select the 9:50am train and press buy) or buy at the ticket counter in Grand Central Station.
